Pearls - Classic to Trendsetting
What every woman should know about flattering her face, figure and frame.

Our jewelry accessorizing class was well received at Border's Books in the Spring of 2008. We would love to speak at your service club, business event or conference! Click here for our speaker sheet in pdf!
Katie at a Conference
We can provide up to an hour seminar on types of pearls, how to select jewelry that flatters your individual style, wear pieces that accentuate and improve your face and figure, care for your jewelry, and recycle your existing items from outdated to a classic or trendsetting wardrobe.

We do not charge for our presentation, but we would appreciate space to offer our products at your event, with a percentage of sales donated as a fundraiser for your organization.

What kind of information do we have to offer? Below is just a small sample of what our presentation will cover:

Pearls

  • Since pearls are our specialty, we'll teach you about the origins of today's pearls.
  • We will share with you the factors that determine a pearl's quality.
  • You will learn about the interesting shapes of pearls that are used in fashion and fine jewelry.

Selecting jewelry

  • We will explain how to consider both your individual features and the shape of your face when selecting pieces. Some tips may surprise you! For example, a delicate stud earring is not the best choice if you dislike your ears or feel your face is too heavy.
  • We will teach you how to locate "balance points," which are places on your neckline where necklaces will look most flattering on you.
  • Did you know multiple strands of a necklace can visually shed pounds? We'll explain why.

Caring for your jewelry

We will teach you how to clean and store your jewelry. There are very different cleaning methods for gold, silver, gemstones and pearls.

Recycle what you already own

  • You don't have to rush out and buy all new jewelry! You probably have a lot that you are not wearing, because it just "doesn't feel right" or looks outdated. Learn how to take a second look!
  • You'll learn that brooches can be worn many ways. We'll show you how they can be converted into a necklace, shoe or hair clip.
  • We'll explain how, with simple jewelry tools, you can change clasps and add extenders to completely revamp an older style.

We recommend the book "Jewelry Savvy: What Every Jewelry Wearer Should Know," by Cynthia Silwa and Caroline Stanley. It's quite extensive with many, many tips for the ultimate jewelry nuts like us!
